Michael van Gerwen saw off
Jose de Sousa in the Last 16 of the
Gibraltar Darts Trophy but post match, he was left annoyed and fired up to win due to a certain checkout.
At 2-2, De Sousa was sat on 80 and went for two double 20's, he still won the leg despite missing it but it was a source of anger for the recent World Grand Prix champion who fired some criticism at 'The Special One'.
"At first his counting wasn't that good but now he does it on purpose to try and be Mr Big Bollocks. It didn't work. I'm going to be the first one who says this, it's about time someone put him in his place," said Van Gerwen
"He always walks around like he's Mr Top Stuff, he's nothing. Simple. I think sometimes tops tops can be a good shot, let's say you're on 105, you throw single bull and you go for tops tops. But sometimes he wants to make a show and it doesn't work especially not against me. So I was more desperate to win that game."
