Michael van Gerwen will aim to make it a hat-trick of Premier League nightly wins in Liverpool but in between saw him spurn a match dart and lose to shock UK Open winner, Andrew Gilding.
While that hurts though for the Green Machine, he is now focused on the Premier League and continuing his form into this week resuming his darting dominance.
“I am here to win tournaments and when you don’t do that, it is disappointing,” said Van Gerwen.
“It was painful for me. It hurt. Everybody knows that I want to win, but I will take it on the chin.
“I am focused on Thursday now. I’m six points clear. The will to win is there, and when you get confidence in the Premier League, it is massive.
“I want to be top of the table, so the pressure is on every week and you have to perform.”
