Van Gerwen on needle with Anderson: "I said cross-eyed to myself and Gary gets a twinge in his head"

Michael van Gerwen saw off Gary Anderson (10-8) on Thursday evening to reach the Quarter-Finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.

The high-quality duel was somewhat marred at the end of the match by needle between Van Gerwen and Anderson. The Dutchman was surprised afterwards about an irritated reaction from his Scottish rival.

"I don't know what happened. Gary always has moments like that, you have to deal with it'', Van Gerwen told Sky Sports of the incident with Anderson.

According to Mighty Mike, he only admonished himself while walking back for missing a treble.

''I walked back and said something like 'cross-eyed' to myself. Gary gets a twinge in his head at that point and thinks I've done something," he later told RTL 7. ''But he's done this kind of thing thirty or forty times in his career."
