Van Gerwen edges past Anderson in high quality tie to set up Smith Quarter-Final at Grand Slam of Darts

Michael van Gerwen is the last confirmed Quarter-Finalist at the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts after seeing off Gary Anderson in a high quality 10-8 win on Thursday evening.

Van Gerwen will now face another of his recent rivals in Michael Smith in the next round after overcoming a good start from Anderson to surge through.

He went 3-2 down at the first interval with Anderson averaging 109.6 and hitting three 180's and got his nose in front again after at 4-3.

But this is when Van Gerwen started the charge as he produced a 116 checkout to level up at 4-4 and broke before consolidating to lead at the second interval 6-4.

Needle began to ensue with Anderson visibly unhappy seemingly with Van Gerwen talking on his way back from the oche and he stayed in touch at 8-7.

Only for MVG to continue to go towards the finishing line at 9-7 with this soon breached seeing the Green Machine through.
