Michael van Gerwen was favourite to seal the German Darts Grand Prix title in Munich going into the final session but this came crashing down to the hands of Luke Humphries, the eventual champion.
He thrashed the Green Machine 7-0 with a 107 average in a performance reminiscent of what MVG has done to many in previous years on the European Tour. He held his hands up post match and said sometimes there's nothing you can do.
"Sometimes it takes a special performance to beat you. And that was just that, well done Luke Humphries a phenomenal game. I still don’t like losing but I’ll take that on the chin. Now to get home to see my family before Aberdeen. Thank you Munich," said the World Number Three on Twitter.
