Luke Littler almost managed to throw a nine-darter against Michael van Gerwen Thursday night during the seventh round of play in the Premier League Darts in Nottingham.
Littler led 5-2 after seven legs and then started the eighth leg with a 180 score and a 177 score. 'The Nuke' hit the triple 20 with the seventh and eighth darts, but then missed the double 12 on the inside.
Van Gerwen was at 274 after two turns and decided to show Littler how to throw 144. He threw triple 20 and double 12 twice to leave 130. Littler could appreciate the feat and rewarded Van Gerwen with a fist. It was then "Mighty Mike" who could shake Littler's hand as the 17-year-old teenage sensation decided the match with an 11-darter for a 6-2 victory over the Dutchman with an average of 114.
