Jeffrey Sparidaans gets to show his talent on the PDC Pro Tour for the next two years. The 29-year-old Dutchman captured a Tour Card at
Q-School last week.
Sparidaans was immediately successful on the first day by beating Ronny Huybrechts in the final. "Fantastic, it's great days like this," Sparidaans opened to Darts Actueel. "It takes some getting used to all the attention I'm getting, I've received a huge amount of messages in the past few days. But everyone is particularly happy for me, which is really nice to hear."
"Beforehand, I did not expect to succeed in capturing a Tour Card," Sparidaans continued. "When I threw the deciding double I threw my darts four lanes further out of joy."
Sparidaans is not a full-time professional. "I work 32 hours a week as a landscaper. Maybe in consultation with my boss I can work one day less per week in the near future. That is negotiable, I think."
Self-confidence
"I gained so much self-confidence at Q-School, I am now really looking forward to competing with the best players in the world in the near future. My goal is to reach the top-64 by the end of next year, but first let's see how things go over the next few months, then I can adjust that ambition if necessary."
