Playing in one of the highly anticipated ties of the day over on Stage Two, it was one that
Scott Williams didn't feel he delivered in as he took down Alan Soutar at the
Players Championship Finals and he lamented his display post match.
"It was awful, that wasn't me and Soots at all. I don't even want to look at the numbers, I was embarrassed. You could just feel on the stage that it wasn't a good game regardless of the outcome," said Williams post match.
A second TV tournament of the season for 'Shaggy' who played at the Grand Slam of Darts and he said reflecting on the start of the year, he can't believe how far he's come.
"The Grand Slam was a massive learning curve. Like really big, you don't realise how different it is playing at the MODUS Super Series to playing there as soon as you see Sky Sports and the sponsors you go Christ. I won't swear as I'm a naughty boy already but you don't realise how big a thing it is. I learnt every game and got better every game."
"If you told me I would have been doing this, I'd have kicked you in the downstairs and run off, I'm just really pleased to be here."
But also with that comes the DRA with Williams likely to receive a fine for his middle finger incident against Luke Humphries and he said he expects it but also doesn't think it'll be his last.
"No comment," he joked. "I apologise, I'm very sorry for what happened. For a split second you forget where you are, you see loads of people and don't even see the cameras. I didn't even realise I did it until I looked at my phone. Luke was fine about it, I'll have a DRA letter and I'll take it on the chin. It probably won't be the last one because I'm a naughty boy."
