Scott Williams lost 5-2 to
Luke Humphries on Saturday on his debut at the
Grand Slam of Darts. Some fuss then arose on social media over a well-meaning gesture "Shaggy" made toward Humphries.
After Williams gave his opponent a close hug and thanked the referees for their service, Williams briefly raised his middle fingers in Humphries' direction. Soon, however, he seemed to realize that this was not a helpful idea in front of the camera.
The harm had been done, however, and television footage clearly showed Williams' - admittedly well-intentioned - action. Whether the disciplinary committee can laugh about it seems another story. Normally such behavior is not accepted and it seems he will soon have to answer to the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA).
