Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright are still fighting for the World Number One spot with the lead currently held by 'The Iceman' albeit only slenderly.
Wright had a shot at taking over first place at the Players Championship tournaments in Wigan last weekend, when Price surprisingly lost in the first round on Saturday. Wright was able to become the new number one in the world with a title, but then lost in the second round to Max Hopp.

However, the reigning world champion will have another chance to take top spot from Price at the International Darts Open in Riesa at the end of February. The Welshman has to defend a Euro Tour title from two years ago during that weekend.
If Price does not reach the final of the International Darts Open, Wright will become the new number one from March anyway. If Wright makes it to the third round in Riesa, Price will need the title to maintain first place.
The table below shows the adjusted differences between Wright and Price. That is, the ranking from which the prize money that the players defend at the International Darts Open has already been deducted.
