Peter Wright had darts for 2-0 in sets but instead was sent all the way to a decider by Dimitri van den Bergh as he confirmed a showdown with Michael van Gerwen at the
World Grand Prix in Leicester.
"It wasn't supposed to be that close but yeah I'm happy with the win. It went either way, Dimi got lucky and he missed. I got lucky to get another shot.
"It was down to respect for each other, it's why it was back and forth all the way through."
Next up is MVG and Wright isn't looking too much into the likely pre-match billing between two of tungsten's top talents and says that sometimes they play and doesn't live up to it.
"It will be if we both get off, otherwise we'll be there for a while," he joked.
"Everyone wants MVG to beat me and I'd love to beat him, in the past we've turned up together on stage and it's not done anything. We've had some crackers but hopefully it'll be a good one."
