Noa-Lynn van Leuven will compete at Ally Pally for the first time after turning down Lakeside 🇳🇱
Noa-Lynn van Leuven will definitely compete in the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. The Dutch player had qualified for both this tournament and the Women's World Championship at Lakeside.
However, PDC rules prohibit players from entering both tournaments. Thus, players who qualify for both World Cups must choose which to compete in.
Van Leuven's choice has definitely fallen on the PDC's World Darts Championship. Indeed, the World Darts Federation (WDF) reports that Van Leuven has opted out of Lakeside because she has accepted the PDC's World Championship invitation.
Van Leuven is seventh player allowed to compete in the PDC's World Darts Championship and the first to hail from the Netherlands. Anastasia Dobromyslova, Deta Hedman, Lisa Ashton, Fallon Sherrock, Mikuru Suzuki and Beau Greaves preceded her. Only Sherrock managed to win a match at Alexandra Palace. The "Queen of the Palace" did so at the 2020 Darts World Championship, where she managed to win against both Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic.
In addition, Van Leuven is the first trans woman to qualify for the World Darts Championship. She may also compete with Greaves at the Grand Slam of Darts. For her part, Greaves has made just the opposite choice of Van Leuven. She has preferred to play the Women's World Championship at Lakeside.
