James Wade defeats Phil Taylor to join 'The Power' in Round 2 and Peter Machin gains consolation win

James Wade secured a 5-3 victory to move through to the Last 16 at the Wolves Civic a year on from being a beaten finalist. He defeated Phil Taylor in what was a nervy affair that was around an 80 average for the most part. Like last year Taylor lost a game which was seen as almost meaningless for the Power who finishes top of the group anyway. Wade will be hoping this is a catalyst for a return to form after not playing the best as of late.
This extinguished any hope of Robbie Green playing in Round 2. He lost to Peter Machin who downed Robbie Green 5-3, 79 averages for both men showed the nerves especially on Green's part. Green's worst performance of the tournament mixed with Taylor's downing of him from behind last time out ended the tournament for Kong.
