Smith though will face potentially one of the toughest tests if he is to win the title though with him up against World Number One, Michael van Gerwen.
His stats so far though suggest that he has been playing well enough to do it. He has a tournament average of 101; with 51 180’s including breaking the record for the amount in one semi-final with 17. His highest checkout has been 136 and his percentage was 44.83%.
In terms of his route to the final, he has played some real in-form players. He started off by defeating Ron Meulenkamp (3-1) then John Henderson (4-2) as well as Ryan Searle (4-1).
Then he dumped up two success stories of the tournament in Luke Humphries (5-1) and Nathan Aspinall (6-3).
The question is though: Can ‘Bully Boy’ realise his potential and become World Champion for the first time?
