Smith in a confident mood ahead of finals night: ‘I believe I can win the Premier League’

Michael Smith heads into his first PDC Premier League Darts finals night in a confident mood with the St Helens ace believing he can win the tournament.
He will face his mentor Gary Anderson and ahead of that the Bully Boy admits he would love to be introduced as the Premier League Champion especially at the World Matchplay. “Of course I believe I can win the Premier League,” said Smith, who beat Anderson 7-5 on the opening night of the season in Dublin. “I’ve won two games in a day against the world’s best players many times before so there’s no reason why I can’t do it again at The O2. “I would love to be introduced to the stage at the World Matchplay in July as the reigning champion of the Premier League.”

- Say what? It happens in other countries; Littler in January - this year (Holland), go and watch the evidence on YouTube. If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
