Steve West through despite average of just 88 in 4-1 win over Jermaine Wattimena

Steve West is through to the Last 16 at the World Championship. 'Simply' proved the best of the two prevailing by 4 sets to 1 against the rapid Dutchman, Jermaine Wattimena.
This though was despite neither man really playing to their potential both averaging less than 90 in the end but four 180's and high checkouts of 160 and 134 were the difference for West.
He moves on through to play Gary Anderson in the next round knowing he will have to massively up his game to trouble the Flying Scotsman.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
