Last week saw the first ever Filipino collect his Tour Card and Christian Perez could not be any happier with his achievement.
Q- School gave Perez a difficult run in but it didn't stop him making it all the way to the Last 16. It was evident that getting the Tour Card meant everything to the 40 year old and he showed that in an interview with the PDC which was made ironic due to there not being many words.
“It really means a lot to me because its been my long time dream…” Perez struggled to continue as he proceeded to cry. “I’m out of words.”
The Tour Card holder was obviously going through a lot of emotions during the interview hence him struggling to get any words out. However he summed up perfectly how much this achievement meant to him and I am sure he will embrace every moment of this next year as a Tour Card holder.
“It is really a dream come true for me, I would like to thank my sponsors, my family, friends who supported me – I love you all!”
I love that darts is growing more and more. I hope more Asian players follow along with South American ones. Good luck to him on the tour!
Absolutely agree. There will be more Asian players in the next ten years. I also think they should take a World Series Event to the Philippines as the interest out there is incredible.
