Mohd-Nasir Bin Jantan won multiple tournaments in Singapore last weekend, becoming the first Malaysian player to take an overall victory on the PDC
Asian Tour.
On July 1st and 2nd, 3 tournaments were played in Singapore as part of the PDC Asian Tour. The tournaments, which were played at the Forest Darts Cafe, were numbers 16, 17 and 18 on the PDC Asian Tour calendar. Bin Jantan won tournaments 16 & 18 and earned a total of $4,300 for his ranking. This makes him the new No. 9 on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
Bin Jantan made his debut on the Asian Tour this weekend and immediately started well in the first tournament. The Malaysian darter lost only three legs in reaching the last 16 and then advanced to the semifinals, where he eliminated Singaporean Paul Lim. In the final, he won over Paolo Nebrida (last year's PDC Asian Championship runner-up).
On Sunday, the second tournament was won by Japan's Tomoya Goto. He secured his first title by defeating Filipino Alexis Toylo 5-3 in the final. In this final, Goto (who also competed for Japan at this year's World Cup of Darts) threw out a 120 and a 145 finish. Japan's Haruki Muramatsu also impressed this weekend. With an average of 109.31 he threw the highest average of the day and eliminated Bin Jantan in the quarterfinals. However, the latter managed to take another final victory later in the day by defeating Paolo Nebrida again in the final of the third tournament. The Malaysian darter won the final with a result of 5-3 and an average of 94.
Filipino Lourende Illagan has maintained his leading position on the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit after this weekend. He is followed by Matsuda and Man Lok Leung, numbers 2 & 3 on the ranking, respectively. Goto secured the fourth spot on the ranking after a successful weekend. Six more tournaments will be played on the Asian Tour this year. The top four on the ranking at the end of the season will qualify for the upcoming World Darts Championship and will travel to the Alexandra Palace in London in December.
The next weekend of the PDC Asian Tour will take place July 29-30 in Bangsaen, Thailand.
