Jonny Clayton eased past Danny van Trijp 3-0 to open up his PDC World Darts Championship campaign and speaking afterwards, he is not only ready to the elite but also is relishing the reverse to being the hunter instead of the hunted.
“I needed to get out of the blocks and I think I did that,” said Clayton post match.
“I am delighted with that. My form hasn’t been brilliant and I was a bit nervous tonight because I don’t know much about Danny.
"There's no easy game but when you're the hunter not being hunted then maybe its a bit easier to keep your name out of things and you can show what you can do.
"I want to be one of the best players in the world, I want to be in the elite. I want to be spoken about but I need to prove what I can do."
