Gabriel Clemens managed to win his first European Tour match in his own country this season. With a 6-5 victory over Daryl Gurney he qualified for the last sixteen at the European Darts Matchplay in Trier.
"Against a good Daryl Gurney I came back from a 3-5 deficit to win 6-5", Clemens looked back on that match via Facebook.
The German also said that he had been struggling with bursitis in his arm for the last few months. Meanwhile, 'The German Giant' is on the way back. ''After months of therapies, treatments, physio and uncertainty, I can finally play a good game again and keep fighting my way back step by step.''
It remained with that one victory over Gurney, though. In the next match, Clemens lost 6-4 to Rowby-John Rodriguez. Despite the fact that I was able to fight back from an early deficit, the triples and doubles didn't come as I wanted. Setbacks are always part of the game, but the journey continues'', he concluded.
