Date of World Matchplay 2023 draw announced

The PDC has announced the date for the draw of the 2023 World Matchplay. It will be conducted on Tuesday, July 4. Later in the week, the playing schedule will also be published.

The field for the World Matchplay consists of the top 16 players in the world rankings and the 16 best players on the cleaned Pro Tour Order of Merit. The seeded players cannot draw each other in the first round and thus meet a player who has qualified via the Pro Tour.

The lineup includes all the big names you might expect such as Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright. Both Raymond van Barneveld and Steve Beaton will also be making long awaited returns to the Winter Gardens with Josh Rock and Mike de Decker making their debuts.

The 30th edition of the World Matchplay will be played from July 15 to July 23. Michael van Gerwen is the defending champion in Blackpool. He won 18-14 over Gerwyn Price in last year's final.
