Germany beat Poland 8-6 in the
World Cup of Darts on Saturday night. It was a hard-fought match, with
Gabriel Clemens and
Martin Schindler only managing to force a decisive break in the 14th leg.
In the post-match interview with Sky Sports, Clemens praised the crowd that kept cheering for the German team during the match. "This is just indescribable! We are enjoying this tournament and looking forward to Sunday.''
The German team will take on England in the quarter-finals. "We are playing against the number one team and I hope we can take the next step," Gabriel Clemens looked ahead to the upcoming match.
Afterwards, Schindler thanked the role of Clemens, who looked a lot better against Poland than 'The Wall'. "I was not at my best, not even close. Gabriel dragged me through it. But that's what the team is about: I made mistakes and he was always there. So I have to say: thank you Gabriel! Thanks Frankfurt! That was good. Really nice."
The German players are aware that the match against England, represented by Michael Smith and Rob Cross, will not be a breeze. "We are playing against two of the best players in the world in this sport," Clemens indicated. "It's a tough, difficult match, but I think we can do a lot of damage."
