Gurney has sights set on Premier League ahead of Chisnall tie: "If I can beat him, I put my name in the hat"

Daryl Gurney is through to the second round at The Masters with a tie against Dave Chisnall on Saturday which could have repercussions for the Premier League.

Gurney was taken all the way to a decider against Jeffrey de Zwaan and he spoke afterwards saying that his darts just fell right in the last leg.

"You could say that lightly. I know he should have won the fourth leg so it definitely should have been 4-1 up after missing the 49 and then I knew straight away I said if I don't play a good leg here at 4-4, I'm going to get broke and I'm going to put myself under pressure and I did that. But then all of a sudden, my concentration stayed the same but the darts started falling in," said Gurney post match.

"All honestly, I've been practicing the best in the last year that I ever have, I just haven't took it onto the stage."

On the Premier League spot, Gurney believes if a win is forthcoming against the St Helens ace, he can put himself in contention.

"As soon as the draw came out and Chizzy keeps telling me he's beaten me the last two years but I can't wait to play him. I'm looking forward to the game, he's the main man to get into the Premier League. If I can beat him, I put my name in the hat."
