Gurney reflects on past World Grand Prix triumph: 'It was a night that I will never forget'

Daryl Gurney will begin his quest for another World Grand Prix triumph on Monday when he takes on Danny Noppert.
Gurney looked back on winning two years ago and said that it was a night he will never forget. This has given him the fire to try and get it back and he believes he is in the best place to regain it.
"It really was a dream come true, it was a night that I will never forget," said Gurney.
"The next morning I woke up I remember thinking 'who owns this trophy beside me?' It still felt like some kind of dream.
"But I'm probably a better player now than I was then so hopefully I can enjoy another dream and wake up with the trophy again."

- This coming from the lowest ranked player in it who was only selected by his paranoia for attention from the crowd by having to conduct the crowd to his walk on music. I know a lot of darts fans who cannot stand Arsepinall, oddly I know people who don't like darts but frequently attend events for the atmosphere and have no idea who was playing. - Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. Indicates to me that the prize money is skewed to much towards the top players, meritocracy must rule but a fair distribution of the money is needed otherwise its only ever about a select few.Mysstree09-01-2025
