Gabriel Clemens wrote German darts history in the PDC
World Darts Championship. He defeated Alan Soutar 4-1 in the last 16 and will return to Alexandra Palace after the New Year's break.
Clemens said he was in control of the match for the entire distance against Soutar. "But I left the darts on the doubles here and there. Actually I never thought I could lose somehow," the German Giant explained in an interview with Sport1.
With a break on double 8 the German Giant managed to take the decider 3-1 and pull away. The German Giant from Saarland also commented on this and revealed what it was like inside him at that moment: "You just want to keep going. Work out a chance again and then use it. Luckily he missed a dart then too and I took the chance."
A special challenge awaits Clemens in the quarter-finals in the form of Gerwyn Price. The German Giant is relaxed about this match: "I look after myself and I've done well with that. I played good matches, three of them. If I can perform again and be there in the right moments, I think I can be dangerous for Gerwyn Price here and there. And then we'll see."
"I know I don't do antics, he doesn't usually do antics. It's all perfectly within reason. He's not running across the stage or anything. There's nothing bad there now. So I hope it will be a good game, a fast game. I don't mind coming back for another day," he adds in conclusion.
