The 26th Players Championship of the year was a triumph for Luke Humphries. The reigning world champion defeated Stephen Bunting 8-7 in the final. However, the highest average of the day belonged to another player.
Ritchie Edhouse defeated Graham Hall 6-0 in the first round, posting a fabulous average of 120.24, no one did better at Players Championship 26. Edhouse eventually stranded at the last 16 after a 6-5 defeat to Dave Chisnall.
The second highest average came in the name of Mike De Decker. The 28-year-old Belgian won 6-2 over compatriot Mario Vandenbogaerde in the last 64, averaging 110.65. De Decker then reached the last 32, where he lost 6-4 to Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Completing the top three is Jermaine Wattimena. The Dutchman defeated Robert Grundy 6-0 at the last 64, averaging 109.98. Wattimena was stranded one round later after a 6-4 defeat against Damon Heta.

I know a lot of darts fans who cannot stand Arsepinall, oddly I know people who don't like darts but frequently attend events for the atmosphere and have no idea who was playing. - Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. Indicates to me that the prize money is skewed to much towards the top players, meritocracy must rule but a fair distribution of the money is needed otherwise its only ever about a select few.Mysstree09-01-2025

- It is shocking and unbelievable that 2 Hotty who was always such a decent player, 2 time World Champion and won the Grand Slam when it meant something. He really should have joined the PDC earlier. He has just disappeared off the radar. Such a shame when one of your favourite players just dissappears. I guess he is concentrating on the carpentry. I made a sign at Lakeside which must have been the biggest ever. It said we're potty for 2 Hotty, each word was on its own flip chart sheet of paper and gaffer taped together.
