Humphries on Rock's incredible debut year after final defeat at Players Championship 28: "There's only one person that comes to mind Rob Cross"

Luke Humphries produced 10 180's but still could not stop Josh Rock from picking up his first title in a remarkable Players Championship 28 Final.

Post match, Humphries stuck around and spoke about Rock and his remarkable debut year lavishing praise on the Northern Irishman.

"What Josh (Rock) has done is quite hard, I think there's only one person that comes to mind Rob Cross. When they're going in their first year being able to really produce what they can. I always found it hard to go into my first year and play like I could because I always had those doubts in my mind.

"The good thing about Josh is that he's a fantastic player but he's also a very nice guy and as we say in life, we always want the nice guys to do well and he deserves the success that he's got. In that final he showed a lot of bottle, he can produce that 108 all the time. It was a tough game for me but I think the best player won."

As well as speaking about the self confidence he got from winning his first title and what Rock will feel going into next season as a PDC winner.

"It made me believe I can win. That's a crucial part. Once you win that first title, it makes you believe that things can happen. When he comes back next year, he will think I can win these a lot more and he can but there's a lot of top players around. He's part of that top 16 that's very elite and there's nothing between us all, it's very tight. It's an exciting time for darts as there's an exceptional talent around, it won't be long till he's in the top 16 on the ProTour and keep him away from me."
