Jitse van der Wal captured his PDC Tour Card at the beginning of this year at Q-School. The 25-year-old Dutchman is currently ranked 128th in the world, so he still has some work to do to secure his Tour Card at the end of next year.
So Van der Wal has been allowed to be in action on the
Pro Tour since the beginning of this year and has a clear routine for that. "A Pro Tour starts at 13:00. Then I get up at 7:00, because I first have to take a shower. I always prepare myself very calmly. Then I have a few drinks and then I'm in the hall on time to be able to throw in a few hours," said Van der Wal in comments with
MiljonairsStyle.
At the start of his PDC career, the Dutchman has a clear goal in mind. "I would still really like to stand on the stage of Alexandra Palace at least once, even if I go out in the first round. At least once, but preferably more often of course. So that I can say that I have been there. That may not happen this year, but I will do everything I can to make it happen next year."

Van der Wal has been following darts for a long time and, more specifically, some of the top players. "The players I have seen on television that have inspired me are Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor. The perseverance of Taylor and the will to win. He never had enough. For me, second place doesn't really count either."
In his first year in the PDC, things are struggling for Van der Wal, who is currently ranked 128th in the world rankings. By the end of next year, he needs to be in the top 64 to keep his Tour Card. "I hope I can keep my Tour Card after these two years. Should that not succeed I want to take it right back. Now I have the chance to qualify for TV tournaments, so I want to take that chance as well."
