Danny Noppert had few problems in the opening round of the
Dutch Darts Masters. 'The Freeze' comfortably defeated Nathan Aspinall 6-2.
It was Noppert's first tournament since losing in his opening match at the last World Darts Championship. "I have indeed thrown a dramatically bad World Championship," Noppert admitted to Darts Actueel.
"Although in that match against Scott Williams I also let myself down a bit on my doubles, in hindsight there could have been more to it. Today I didn't throw at the top of my game either, but my trebles went really well."
Noppert became a father for the second time a month and a half ago. "It's very busy at home, but fortunately everything is going well with the children. I sleep very little at the moment, but I am determined to perform well on the Pro Tour this year."
The 33-year-old Dutchman will take on his compatriot Gian van Veen in the quarterfinals.
