Peter Wright remains pointless in the Premier League Darts table after three weeks of action. 'Snakebite' went down 6-2 to Michael van Gerwen in his quarter-final in Glasgow on Thursday night.
"Michael wasn't even on it but I just couldn't punish him," said a visibly frustrated Wright in his post-match press conference. "It was one of them games where if you're watching on TV you're thinking 'he's playing rubbish, just step it up.' But I just couldn't find anything."
Nevertheless, Wright was grateful for the immense support he received from the Scottish crowd during the match. "The crowd was fantastic and it was nice to see a full house there tonight. I really appreciate that," he says. "I was gutted I let them down."
Despite the fact Wright has been I'm something of a slump in for as of late, the Scot did show signs of improvement at Players Championship 2 earlier this week, reaching the semi-finals. "It was nowhere near that tonight though to be honest," he laments. "It was terrible to be honest, but you're not playing in front of 10,000 people on the floor tournament are you? So it's totally different."
Wright remains optimistic that a return to form is just around the corner however. "I'll still finish in the top 4," he insists.
