Martin Schindler has qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Grand Prix for the first time in his career. 'The Wall' was a 3-2 winner over Stephen Bunting in a quality second round tie.
"I think it was a fantastic game of darts. Everyone loved to see that game because it wasn’t bad at all," Schindler opened in a post-match interview with Online Darts. "It turned out to be a really great game to watch and for me, it's a really good feeling to win that one. I cannot describe it in words."
Schindler was confident on the big stage and enjoyed himself despite the crowd getting on his back. "They kind of started booing and whistling," the German recalls. "I've heard so many players complaining about that, about the noise when they are booing and whistling but for me, I'm still up there and I can throw the darts. That's what I did, so it doesn't matter to me because I'm still throwing."
The 27-year-old German will take on Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals, as such he isn't looking too far ahead. "I'm not thinking about that to be honest. I know I'm definitely the underdog against Gerwyn Price."
