In-form Pietreczko delights home crowd with Nentjes win, Ratajski survives in narrow Brooks win at European Darts Open

After reaching a semi-final earlier this week on the ProTour, Ricardo Pietreczko returned home and to the European Tour sealing an emphatic 6-2 win over Geert Nentjes on Friday afternoon at the European Darts Open.

Pietreczko was especially emphatic on his finishing with a 170 checkout hit by 'Pikachu' en route to 6/9 on the outer ring. The roof raiser came in a spell which saw a 120 checkout for 3-1 followed by a 61 checkout and then a 170.

Nentjes seemingly got the memo with a 126 checkout for 5-2 down but was broken in the next leg on double 20 and couldn't produce a comeback.

While Krzysztof Ratajski who reached a ProTour final losing to Gary Anderson narrowly saw off another player who impressed in Bradley Brooks. He survived five match darts to deny Brooks before finally getting over the line with his seventh in a dramatic decider.

He is joined in the second round by Brendan Dolan who eased past Steve Lennon 6-1 scoreline wise but could've been a lot closer doubling aside as the latter had darts to win six out of the seven legs played but it was 'The History Maker' who made his way through.
