Michael van Gerwen lost 10-7 to Rob Cross in the quarter-finals of the Masters on Sunday afternoon. He was quite annoyed by his opponent's attitude during the match.
Van Gerwen, himself a five-time winner of the Masters, told Viaplay afterwards that he was quite annoyed with Cross. ''That cynical stuff, I find it weird. You can't say anything about his qualities though. He's a fantastic player."
The Dutchman then decided to deliver another sneer to the former world champion. ''Do you know why it is that the PDC didn't choose him for the Premier League? It's because the PDC also thinks he's a boring player. You either have that or you don't. Either you're a player with character, or you're not. He just doesn't have it. That silly laughing and acting."
How did MvG know he wasn't in the PL? The lineup was announced after this comp.
He (Cross) is not exciting to watch, that annoying habit of stopping, rubbing his leg and slow play, its tedious. Against Wright towards the end of the semi final he (Cross) actually speeded up and had a far better rhythm. Be surprised if he makes the Premier League, Dobey will be ahead of him now.
Don't know why people have to talk bad about other people, especially when they don't harm anyone
Rob Cross is an idiot, he talks complete & utter bs every time hes interviewed, he said how well hes playing then acts surprised on stage when he wins by putting his hands up as if to say I was lucky there, hes not well liked
Oh dear oh dear oh dear! Bad loser or what? We are beggining to see why you are NOT the legend you are in your own head now, You keep getting beaten by players you then sneer at! Enjoy your rest and get practicing, you are not as good as you think you are!

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. I think it was Phil Taylor who said you should put a third to one side of all winnings into a bank account, obviously Merv was wearing his earplugs at the time.Mysstree10-03-2025
- The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
