Wayne Mardle used to be a successful darter himself, reaching the semifinals of the World Darts Championship no less than four times. Nowadays he is active as a commentator, analyst and also coaches.
Mardle has posted a new video on his youtube channel Club 501. In it, he discusses the importance of throwing a comfortable arrow. "Don't pick up a set and think they feel lovely. You don't know how they're going to respond to you when you release the dart," he says.
"I've used a similar barrel since I picked up darts over 40 years ago. My darts they're very similar. They feel comfortable in my hand."
"Some of you will want your darts sitting up and some will want your darts standing up to attention like MVG. Some will want your darts sitting down like Taylor. What will do that is the flight, the stem."
Searle
Most players throw darts of between 20 and 25 grams. "You don't want to go anymore than about 28 grams," Mardle believes. "I know Ryan Searle uses about 36 grams, but that's an outlier.."
