Luke Littler managed to qualify for the 2024
Premier League Darts playoffs as a league winner. An unprecedented achievement by the 17-year-old teenage sensation, whose maturity for such a grueling competition was in doubt prior to the Premier League season.
Amid all the outside noise, Littler dealt with the pressure superbly. With the exception of one week of play, Littler spent the entire competition in the top three. After the tenth week of play, 'The Nuke' took over the top spot from Luke Humphries, who then held the first spot only after the second week of play. Littler took the lead right back a week later and did not relinquish it again.
Littler accumulated as many as 40 points in 16 weeks. He won four weekly titles, lost two finals, was stranded in the semifinals seven times and lost his opening match only three times.
With 40 points, he equaled the Premier League record of
Jonny Clayton,
who managed to win the league stage at the 2022 edition. Clayton also won four weekly titles at the time, but otherwise lost four weekly finals as well. Four times "The Ferret" made it to the semifinals, while four times the first round was also the final stage.
The current format with weekly mini-tournaments has been used in Premier League Darts since 2022. In 2023, Gerwyn Price topped the rankings with 39 points.
