Stephen Bunting ends Premier League Darts drought in style, storms to first nightly win in Berlin with Gerwyn Price victory

Stephen Bunting showed form during the ProTour during the week and said he was feeling confident and showed that in style as he not only opened his Premier League Darts account but won the night in Berlin.
Bunting defeated Gerwyn Price in the final 6-5 after a horror show in weeks prior where he couldn't buy a win no matter how good he played but he has seen off Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price tonight to seal five points.
He closes in on Chris Dobey despite still being bottom of the table after nine weeks but some much needed solace for a confidence stricken Bullet before tonight.
To start the tie, Bunting drifted into single nine for 92 to hold. But Price couldn't hit 108 for a break. Bunting couldn't punish on double two but neither could Price as 'The Iceman' handed Bunting a free chance to lead 1-0.
But again he couldn't take it and finally he drifted in double six to break. 87 on the bull from Bunting saw him draw level at 1-1 and break again.
Price couldn't get a dart at 128 leaving Bunting 124 for 2-1. He got another shot at bull but missed it. Price returned for double 20 for 2-1. He missed two darts to hold from 56 and further as Bunting got a chance for 2-2 which he took.
Price missed 107 to break and Bunting had 65. But he drifted into single five and Price returned for 49 for 3-2. Bunting missed 108 for 3-3. Price had 117 but missed double 20. Bunting returned for 3-3.
A 96 checkout saw Bunting roar and go 4-3 up to gain the impetus. But Price screamed to get himself going off a 76 checkout to make it 4-4.
A timely 180 to leave 45 for Bunting saw 'The Bullet' get a chance for 5-4 but he blinked and Price hit double five for 71 to go one away.
Bunting hit a fifth maximum and Price couldn't get a shot at 102. The former left 86 which he got a chance at to make it 5-5 and he missed the bull by the width of a wire for 5-5 and Price returned. But while being booed and whistled by the crowd, Price handed Bunting the shot to make it 5-5.
Price couldn't get near 170 and left only 112 and Bunting got a shot at 107 for the win in sublime fashion.

The Premier league has literally become a pantomime with a hero and villain, all thats needed is an older dart player in drag to play the joke old woman / queen and a younger woman to play the male hero. Barry is probably working on it now.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
