Gerwyn Price will return to action for the first time in nearly 90 days when he takes to the oche next week at PDC Super Series 4 in Milton Keynes.
Price's lack of action stems from being ruled out of the Premier League after testing positive for Covid-19.
Ahead of his return, he paid tribute to his World Cup teammate and winner, Jonny Clayton as well as discussing frustrations.
"I was upset. I've lost three months of playing and playing against top players and having that match practice," Price told reporters on Wednesday.
"I have been stripped of that opportunity but there's nothing that could be done, I had to move on and that is behind me now."
"Fair play to Jonny [Clayton] for picking up the trophy, he has done really well. Darts is in a good place in Wales at the moment. I just wish I could have had a chance at playing in that Premier League."
Raring to go after frustrating period
Price discussed filling his time with other ventures including buying and renovating properties which he was glad for.
"It has been very frustrating, sitting on the sidelines watching everybody else play and not being able to be involved.
"I am lucky that I have had other things that I have been able to do, otherwise the last three months - to be sat in the house doing nothing - I would have gone stir crazy."
Under no illusion at task in hand
So how is Price playing ahead of the PDC Super Series? He revealed he is practicing really well and is hitting trebles for fun but he is under no illusion that it means nothing until that competitive edge is back.
"I am not sure how well I'm going to play in a match, but I'm practising really well, I'm hitting more trebles now than I've ever hit. It is all about that pressure of playing against someone who can play just as well as you," he continued.
"It is all good and well throwing trebles for fun and hitting everything, but when someone is doing it against you, that is when it matters so the first one or two games are going to be tense for me, but I'm sure I will come out flying.
"I'm always determined, I'm always hungry to win tournaments. I can never be more determined than I am right through the season, so for me to say I'm more determined now would be wrong, because I'm always in that frame of mind anyway."
"I'm throwing just as well as I was before I stopped playing, but you can't beat that match practice and I haven't had any of it, so I'm just a bit anxious how well I'm going to be playing when I come back. I am sure I will hit the ground running."
