Gary Anderson showed excellent form last week ahead of the
World Grand Prix. 'The Flying Scotsman' was one of three winners at the Players Championship tournament in Barnsley.
The two-time world champion mainly drew attention to himself with his amazing level. Anderson threw an average above 100 in thirteen of his eighteen matches, including seven averages even above 105. In doing so, Anderson showed many to be an outsider at the World Grand Prix, but not everyone is convinced.
Dennis Priestley, the previous PDC world champion in 1994, does not expect much from the 52-year-old Scot.
''I think the desire to win has gone for him,'' Priestley told Boylesports in a forward. ''He's very comfortable money-wise and I think he's happy with what he's done in his career."
Priestley does not think Anderson will compete for the title at the World Grand Prix. "I think he'll struggle to get to the final and I wouldn't expect him to get any further than the quarters."
Humphries a contender though
Priestley is a lot more positive about
Luke Humphries' chances. 'Dennis the Menace' puts the Englishman forward as one of the outsiders for the title in Leicester.
''Luke Humphries is exceptional when he wants to be and he's definitely the one to beat for me. He's the one everyone should be looking out for," Priestley said. "He's already on the same level as the likes of Gerwyn Price."
