Schedule World Grand Prix 2024: Littler and Humphries star on opening night in Leicester

The schedule for the 2024 World Grand Prix has been announced by the PDC. The double-in double-out tournament is scheduled from Monday, Oct. 7, to Sunday, Oct. 13, in Leicester.

The first round will be played on the two opening days. Eight matches will be completed on each of the two days. On Monday, Oct. 7, it will be the upper half of the bracket, while the lower half of the tournament schedule will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Luke Humphries and Luke Littler will play on Monday. Humphries will face Stephen Bunting, while Littler will make his World Grand Prix debut against Rob Cross. Raymond van Barneveld is up on the first day of play. The 57-year-old from The Hague will then take on Ricardo Pietreczko. On the same day, Gian van Veen will make his World Grand Prix debut against Ross Smith.

Six-time World Grand Prix champion Michael van Gerwen is scheduled to play on Tuesday. 'Mighty Mike' will then take on Daryl Gurney. Van Gerwen thus gets an extra day to recover. Illness has forced the three-time world champion to miss five Players Championship tournaments and a Euro Tour event.

Gerwyn Price will face Danny Noppert on Tuesday, Oct. 8. In addition, there are crackers that day between Peter Wright and James Wade, among others, while Gary Anderson and Michael Smith also meet.

We will see the 16 winners of the first round return to the stage for the second round on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. The quarterfinals are on Friday, Oct. 11, while the semifinals are on Saturday, Oct. 12. The grand finale is on Sunday, Oct. 13.

It is the third consecutive time the World Grand Prix has been played at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester. Last year, Humphries managed to win his first major title there by defeating Price (5-2) in the final.
