Third time's the charm: Wesley Plaisier snatches his first PDC ranking title

Wesley Plaisier took the title at the 28th Players Championship tournament of the season on Wednesday. The dart player from the Netherlands defeated former world youth champion Josh Rock in the nerve-wracking final.

Plaisier does not currently hold a PDC Tour Card, but because of his good performance on the Challenge Tour, he has competed in almost all Players Championship tournaments in 2024. That the difference between the top players on the Challenge Tour and Tour Card holders on the Pro Tour is small proved Plaisier by making two Players Championship finals earlier this year.

The 34-year-old Dutchman made it to the final of Players Championships 13 and 14 in July, throwing averages above 100 in both finals, but came up against an unleashed Ross Smith and Jonny Clayton, respectively.
Plaisier managed to reach the final of Players Championship 28 after wins over Matt Campbell (6-2), Ritchie Edhouse (6-2), Florian Hempel (6-1), Krzysztof Ratajski (6-5), Jose de Sousa (6-5) and Danny Noppert (7-5). Rock settled with Scott Williams (6-5), Josh Payne (6-3), Andrew Gilding (6-3), George Killington (6-2), Jonny Clayton (6-4) and Dirk van Duijvenbode (7-6).
In the final Plaisier was able to turn a 3-5 deficit into a 6-5 lead, after which the next three legs went with the darts for a 7-7 lead after fourteen legs. Plaisier was able to start the last leg, but it was Rock who was the first to finish with a 180 score and a 140 score. 'Rocky' missed six match darts, however, after which Plaisier took the win via tops.
With this win, Plaisier climbs to the 73rd position in the world rankings and may dream of entering the top-64 of the PDC Order of Merit after the World Darts Championship. That would mean he would automatically get a Tour Card for 2025 and also get to keep his 2024 prize money he won. If Plaisier grabs a Tour Card via the Challenge Tour or Q-School, he will start from zero in the world rankings again in 2025.
A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.

- This is exactly what I mean,littler survives the 1st round,I think you'll find a lot of other players did. Can you just report on the real sport,and not just 1 person.
