Van Barneveld claims first win against Edhouse, Nijman survives comeback to see off Evans

Van Barneveld saw off Ritchie Edhouse in a 5-4 win which saw him claim his first win of the night after previous defeats to Martin Adams and David Evans. He averaged 86 en route with two 180's and 5/16 on the doubles as he adds some points to the board.

Before that, Evans claimed another win by seeing off Martin Adams to make it three from three for the night. 'Stretch' came through a hard fought battle against 'Wolfie' in a match that saw the lead go back and forth until Evans went one away.

Adams forced a decider from there but Evans had the throw so successfully came through the tie against the legend.

This wasn't the case though against Nijman as despite Evans coming from 4-2 down to potentially seal an unlikely comeback and make it 4/4. He was denied in a decider by the young Dutchman.

In this decider, it could have gone either way with Evans himself leaving 24 for the victory only for Nijman to take out 72 to claim it. This means that for Nijman he is now at 3/3 and sits one win away against RVB from claiming the first night win.
