Van den Bergh surprises himself with equipment change: 'Such a change is not to be underestimated in such a mental sport'

Dimitri van den Bergh made the switch from supplier Unicorn to Target Darts in September. 'The Dreammaker' is positively surprised with the first results with his newly developed darts.

''I feel surprisingly good,'' Van den Bergh said in the PDC Europe newsletter. ''Such a change is not to be underestimated in such a mental sport. If it doesn't go well with finishing a few times you start thinking, but at the moment everything is going well.''

At the first tournament after the switch, at the German Darts Open in Jena, Van den Bergh even reached the final. He lost against world champion Peter Wright. Still, a final spot gave a lot of satisfaction.

''I was incredibly proud of my performance in Jena. I wasn't feeling very well in terms of health that weekend, but still managed to play my A-game on stage. Of course I would have liked to beat Peter in the final, but he was just incredibly strong.''

Finally, the Belgian was asked what he likes best about playing tournaments on the Euro Tour. ''The atmosphere! The fans in the halls celebrate the sport and they celebrate themselves. Besides my home event in Belgium, I especially love the events in Germany. I feel the support of the German fans and I like to give my interviews in German when I win.''
