Vincent van der Voort saw his PDC World Darts Championship come to an end on Monday due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Players had to demonstrate a negative test before going into the venue and resuming the tournament.
"I'm incredibly disappointed that I can't play, but otherwise I feel fine. I really don't have any problems. I have no fever, no symptoms. Nothing. I've had a small tickle in my throat since this morning and that's it", Van der Voort told Monday evening by telephone during the broadcast of RTL 7.
He did his test around noon. "You are shocked," he described that moment. The Dutch Destroyer hopes that his compatriots will escape contamination.
During Christmas, Van der Voort dined with Michael van Gerwen and Dirk van Duijvenbode. "Whether I'm worried about Michael? Of course. From the moment I tested positive, I told him that he should not come near me at all. Until now, his test results were always negative. But an accident could be just around the corner," said the two-time quarter-finalist at the PDC World Cup.
