Michael van Gerwen failed to win the eleventh round of the Premier League on Thursday night. Mighty Mike lost 6-5 to Jonny Clayton in the final in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Van Gerwen was angry with the referee who had to intervene when someone in the hall started whistling when Clayton had to throw out.
"I think he (referee Russ Bray) put his stamp on this match too much. That 'thank you' from him to the public happens every time I have to throw. But I can't blame that. I just have to learn from this", Van Gerwen told Sportnieuws.nl.
The 32-year-old Dutchman flies home on Friday morning and has a free weekend for the first time in a long time.
"To be with my kids and my wife. Those are the important things in life. I am really looking forward to that."
