AWARDS VANGERWEN

The PDC Annual Awards took place on Monday at The Dorchester in London with Michael van Gerwen claiming the main award of Player of the Year.

Van Gerwen by his high standards did not have the best year of his career but came back at the end to claim the World Championship for a third time.
This joined his Premier League, Masters, World Grand Prix, World Cup Of Darts; as well as nineteen Euro Tour titles won in 2018.
He also won the Pro Tour Player of the Year due to his aforementioned form away from the TV.
There were also awards for Michael Smith and Gary Anderson who both enjoyed great years. These were PDPA and Fans’ Player of the Year respectively.
Also Rod Harrington was announced as the next inductee in the PDC Hall of Fame.
Harrington who was a brilliant player in his own right winning two World Matchplay titles is recognised for his contribution to the sport.
This includes in youth darts with him playing a massive part in the Development Tour beginning as well as other periphery tours.
As well as that, his part in the breakaway of the PDC and his commentary work mean his addition is well warranted.
