"Why wasn't I told?" 🫣 Apologies again Wayne for making you relive this, but we couldn't resist! 🤣 We asked @Wayne501Mardle to talk us through the infamous "why wasn't I told?" interview...
Wayne Mardle looked back on some special moments from his darts career in an extensive interview with Dan Dawson. His now legendary interview with Wilfred Genee also passed in review.
The interview with the Dutch presenter took place during the Masters of Darts 2005 in Hengelo. Mardle had a visibly hard time swallowing his 5-1 defeat against Co Stompé.
Swearing, he faced Genee, unaware that the conversation was being broadcast live. It made for extraordinary footage, although it's now something Mardle looks back on years later with embarrassment.
"I get tweeted this all the time. I'm going crimson now," Mardle responded, placing his hands on his head. "Just Stop! How can you carry on swearing? This is embarrassing", the Sky Sports analyst then shouts at the screen showing the footage.
''What disappoints me now, is that I can speak like that to another human being. It's awful," Mardle added, visibly cringing. Check it out for yourself in the video below!
