Players could qualify for this tournament through several routes. On the one hand, this could be done by reaching finals at the televised tournaments. Because these criteria did not yield sixteen players, three Euro Tour winners and a Players Championship winner were also added to the lineup. Furthermore, there are eight international qualifiers and eight winners of the qualifying tournament for PDC Tour Card holders.
The pot draw is based on the position of the players in the world rankings. The first eight players have been given seeded status and have already been divided among the eight groups. World champion and defending champion Michael Smith is in Group A. Also on his side of the schedule will be Jonny Clayton (Group B), Luke Humphries (Group C) and Gerwyn Price (Group D).
The remaining 24 participants will be placed in the eight pots in the draw. In pot 2 are Rob Cross, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Dave Chisnall, Damon Heta, James Wade, Ryan Searle, Chris Dobey and Andrew Gilding.
Pot 3 includes Gary Anderson, Stephen Bunting, Krzysztof Ratajski, Josh Rock, Brendan Dolan, Ricardo Pietreczko, Martijn Kleermaker and Gian van Veen. Finally, Steve Lennon, Nathan Rafferty, Berry van Peer, Nathan Girvan, Beau Greaves, Fallon Sherrock, Haruki Muramatsu and Stowe Buntz are in pot 4.
