Whitlock breaks 180 record at Grand Slam during Van Gerwen win

SImon Whitlock saw off Michael van Gerwen for a third straight major at the Grand Slam of Darts after previous triumphs at the World Grand Prix and World Matchplay.

But not only that but Whitlock hit a record breaking 20 180's in the tie over 31 legs fifteen more than the Dutchman but it still went all the way with MVG missing eight match darts.

The old record was held by Adrian Lewis. 'Jackpot' hit 18 during his 2013 semi-final tie against Phil Taylor with comparisons being drawn by many to that with it being known as the best game of all time.
