Before the Premier League Darts began, Peter Wright sat down for the Media Day and one of the topics surrounded Gary Anderson and the World Cup of Darts.

During an interview on the Online Darts Live Lounge, Anderson who was practicing with Ryan Searle stated his desire to return to the World Cup of Darts team and reunite with Wright in 2023 and Wright was told about this which saw his face light up.

"We have an unbeaten record together we will go in as favourites," said Wright to Online Darts.

"People have been missing him for the last few years, what he can do on a dart board is frightening. Just look at his 111 average and he lost. He shouldn't have said he's been practicing, he should've just walked into the tournament and said I haven't been practicing, got up there and surprised everybody."

"He played brilliant did he and there's only better to come. I've got a brilliant partner back in the World Cup."

The selection criteria is the top two players of a country from the PDC order of Merit so currently for Scotland it would be Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, Alan Souter is currently third ranked Scot, around £75,000 behind Anderson. Depending on whats to come off from winnings two seasons ago and whats adde this year, if Soutar has a good run or two and Anderson avoids playing a lot of Euro tournaments Soutar could easily overtake him. The only way a lower ranked player can make the team is if a higher ranked player withdraws, thats how John Henderson got to play for Scotland.

It would be great to see Gary back, he is very popular but the form is gone. I would select Alan Soutar, he is the talent Scotland need.
