Michael van Gerwen showed signs of improvement during the PDC Autumn Series in Niedernhausen, where he claimed one of the titles.
The Dutchman decided to switch back to his old darts after disappointments at the World Matchplay and in the Premier League Darts. With his old arrows Van Gerwen claimed dozens of major titles, including three world titles.
''I made the decision to go back to the basics. From there we will see what we are going to do'', he told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. ''I have tried several things recently, also other weights. That didn't work, but that's not a problem.''
Nevertheless, there is a chance that Van Gerwen will return to arrows from his current sponsor Winmau in the coming months. They are now working hard on new equipment for the world number one.
''That takes some time, but it will be alright'', he said. But at the same time he doesn't want to rule out the possibility that he will still throw with his old darts at the World Championship in December.
New darts or not, the three-time world champion is convinced to come back stronger after his slip of form.
“You always have to adapt to situations. That's the same for everybody. For some, something is a disadvantage and for others an advantage. Look, I became a father again this year and that is also a life change. It doesn't matter, because you choose that and I would like nothing more. But they are things that have to come back into your system. Therefore, I don't worry too much, it will all be fine."
